Jobs at NEOM: Careers in the Red Sea Megaproject

A practical guide to NEOM careers. Who is hiring, what roles exist across destinations and disciplines, how to apply, what compensation looks like, and how to prepare.

NEOM has been one of the largest single concentrations of Gulf hiring since 2018. This guide summarises the public picture of employment at NEOM as of 2026, including who hires, what kinds of roles exist, how to apply, and what to prepare.

Who hires at NEOM

Employment at NEOM moves through several distinct channels.

  • NEOM Company directly. The headline NEOM brand hires across executive, design, planning, technology, operations, and corporate roles. NEOM Company is owned by the Public Investment Fund and operates as a closed joint stock company.
  • NEOM subsidiary entities. Each major destination has its own operating company, including separate entities for The Line, Trojena, Sindalah, Oxagon, and Magna. These hire for destination-specific roles.
  • Contractors and consultants. A long list of international and Saudi firms hold contracts on NEOM, including major construction, engineering, hospitality, and technology companies. Many roles described as NEOM jobs are technically contractor positions.
  • Joint ventures. NEOM Green Hydrogen Company, the joint venture with Air Products and ACWA Power, is one of the most visible examples and is hiring across operations, engineering, and corporate functions.

For applicants, the employer of record matters. NEOM Company direct employment, contractor employment, and joint venture employment have different terms, different career trajectories, and different practical implications.

Roles that exist

A non-exhaustive picture of the kinds of work NEOM employs.

  • Architecture and design, particularly for The Line, Trojena, and Magna destinations.
  • Civil and structural engineering at scale, in-house and through contractor firms.
  • Construction management for foundation, excavation, marine works, and vertical construction.
  • Hospitality, with growing demand as Sindalah operates and as Trojena and Magna destinations approach opening.
  • Technology, including software, data, AI, and cybersecurity, often through NEOM technology subsidiaries.
  • Sustainability and ESG, with significant headcount on environmental assessment, renewable energy planning, and reporting.
  • Marketing, communications, and government relations.
  • Logistics and supply chain, especially around Oxagon and the construction effort.
  • Health and safety, including occupational health on construction sites.
  • Sports and events in the run-up to the 2029 Asian Winter Games at Trojena.

How to apply

The official channel for NEOM jobs is the careers section of the NEOM website. Roles also appear on LinkedIn, Bayt, GulfTalent, and other regional job boards. Specialist recruiters in London, Dubai, and Riyadh source heavily for NEOM and contractor roles.

A practical note for applicants. Many advertised roles, particularly senior ones, are routed through recruiters who screen candidates before any direct contact with NEOM hiring managers. Verifying advertised roles against the official NEOM careers site is a useful sanity check.

Compensation and benefits

Compensation at NEOM, particularly for international hires, has been competitive by global standards. Public reporting and recruiter disclosures indicate the following.

  • Senior roles can carry significant compensation premiums versus equivalent positions in London, New York, or Singapore, reflecting the location and project profile.
  • Tax treatment. Saudi Arabia does not levy personal income tax on most employment income. International hires should still confirm home-country tax obligations, particularly US citizens.
  • Housing. Many roles include housing, either as direct provision or as an allowance.
  • Schooling. International school allowances are common for senior roles with families.
  • Travel. Annual home leave allowances are common.
  • End of service. Saudi labour law provides for an end-of-service gratuity calculated on length of service.

Living in NEOM

Many staff currently live at NEOM Bay, a community designed for the project workforce. NEOM Bay includes residential, retail, and service amenities, alongside access to the wider Red Sea coast. As destinations open, residential options will expand across the region.

The wider Tabuk Province offers historic and natural attractions, and the location offers easy access to Jordan, Egypt, and the rest of the Gulf for weekend travel.

Preparing for an interview

A few practical tips for candidates preparing for NEOM-related interviews.

  • Know the destination. Understand the specific NEOM destination you are interviewing for, its master plan, and how your role fits.
  • Understand Vision 2030. Read the official Vision 2030 documentation. NEOM is positioned within a broader national strategy and interviewers often reference it.
  • Be specific about Saudi experience. If you have worked in the Gulf before, lead with concrete examples of cross-cultural collaboration.
  • Know the timeline. Each destination has its own phased opening schedule. Your role’s significance depends on where the destination is in its lifecycle.

For the wider context, see the main NEOM overview. For destination details, see The Line, Trojena, Sindalah, Oxagon, and Magna. For phasing and delivery, see completion date and progress.
