Trojena is the mountain destination of NEOM, located in the Sarawat range at elevations between 1,500 and 2,600 metres. Built around a man-made freshwater lake and designed for year-round outdoor recreation, Trojena will host the 2029 Asian Winter Games, the first Asian Winter Games to be held in the Middle East.

Winter sports
Trojena will offer snow sports on a combination of natural and machine-made snow. Slopes range from beginner to competition-grade, with terrain suitable for alpine skiing, snowboarding, and freestyle. The resort will also include cross-country tracks, a snow park, and supporting facilities.
The 2029 Asian Winter Games will use Trojena venues for the principal alpine and snow events, marking the first time the Asian Winter Games have taken place in West Asia.
Year-round outdoor activities
Beyond winter, Trojena’s elevation gives it mild summers. Year-round activities include:
- Mountain hiking on graded trails through the Sarawat landscape.
- Mountain biking on a network of trails graded from family routes to enduro.
- Watersports on the freshwater lake, including paddleboarding, kayaking, and sailing.
- Rock climbing at managed crags around the resort.
- Astronomy at the dark-sky reserve adjacent to the resort.
- Spa and wellness at altitude.
Hotels and accommodation
Trojena’s accommodation programme is positioned in the luxury and ultra-luxury segment. The opening line-up includes branded hotels from major international hospitality groups, along with private chalets, lake-front villas, and serviced apartments. The resort targets year-round occupancy by pairing winter sport with summer alpine tourism.
How to visit
As of 2026, Trojena is in construction phase. The resort is scheduled to begin operating ahead of the 2029 Asian Winter Games, with phased openings of hotels, slopes, and lake facilities. Access will be via the existing NEOM Bay Airport and dedicated mountain road infrastructure.
